Welcome To Year 2 / Croeso i Blwyddyn Dau
We made the best of this 'Indian Summer' and took a walk up to the Cwm Clydach Reserve. We saw many examples of different types of seeds. Click here to find out more about seed dispersal.

I wrote down where the seeds grow in different fruits. I had a strawberry, a tomato, a cucumber and grapes. I looked at a cucumber to see where the seeds are in it. I drew a diagram to show where they are. We drew different fruits and labelled them showing the parts of the fruit, like the skin, the seeds and the rest of the inside. We are holding a tomato, a banana and a blueberry. I am holding a banana, I was finding out if it was a fruit or vegetable by seeing if it had seeds. I found the seed in the blackberry, it was in the globules. I tasted them. I am thinking hard about whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable. Now I know it is a fruit because it has seeds. We are checking to see if a cucumber has seeds. It does, so a cucumber is a fruit! We investigated seeds in different fruits to find out where their seeds are. We learnt that some fruits have seeds on the inside and some on the outside, and their seeds come in many different shapes and sizes.
We have all just joined Clydach Junior School. We are in class 3M with Mrs McComas. We are enjoying it a lot.
