This week we have been learning through the book 'Bringing the Rain to the Kapiti Plain'.The book is about how rain came and ended the drought in the Kapiti Plain in Kenya. We made a new home for Ki-Pat and his family using play-doh, leaves, sticks, lollipop sticks and other materials. In maths we have been estimating using the Numicon ten shapes to help us. We transferred this skill when we added pasta and rice to our African rainmakers. We've enjoyed playing in our African Safari Lodge. Next week we will be taking bookings and telling our customers about African animals. Some of us have also been creating a Puppet Pals retelling of the Enormous Crocodile. We are making the most of the dry weather by eating our lovely healthy snack in the playground. We all enjoy our nice healthy milk. Today we had: Grapes Peaches Bananas Apples Tomatoes Pineapples Melon Plum What a lovely week celebrating 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl. The children looked wonderful in their costumes. this week we have been learning about adjectives, writing about The Enormous crocodile, working with numbers to 100, locating Africa and Wales on a map, researching African animals and lots lots more. We have completed a tally charts on our favourite African animals. Meercats were the most popular!
The children have settled in brilliantly over the last two days. They have been working hard showing me everything that they can do in numeracy and literacy.
We have read The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl and will be doing lots of work on it over the next two weeks. Unfortunately a technical issue isn't allowing me up upload photographs onto the blog at the moment but we are hoping to have this sorted out very soon. Newsletters will be out tomorrow and reading books and spelling words will be out by Friday. Many Thanks |
